The tradition of English goldwork dates back to the 10th century. These techniques employ genuine metal threads of gold, silver, or copper to form intricate designs. Goldwork also pairs beautifully with other techniques such as Silk Shading. 

For our  Saturday, April 14th , 1-4pm class, students will work on a small sampler to familiarize themselves with the essential techniques of this beautiful historical embroidery style.

All materials are provided. Students only need bring small scissors, and embroidery hoop, and tweezers to class.

Instructor – Larissa Boiwka

Larissa is best known for creating richly embellished couture corsets, under the label Wilde Hunt Corsetry. Her work has appeared in music videos and television, most recently PBS’ new period drama Mercy Street. She has been teaching courses in beadwork and embroidery for over 17 years at places such as the Columbus College of Art and Design and Byzantium, the popular art and jewelry gallery. The instructor has studied with the prestigious embroidery firm of Hand & Lock, embroiderers to the English royal family and looks forward to sharing with you some of the tricks of the couture industry.
