Above is a historic example of Or Nuè, or shaded gold,  a stunning medieval embroidery technique which is rarely taught. In our workshop, we will be working a beautiful art nouveau peacock feather design in this historic technique. These rich, shimmering colors will offer the perfect contrast to the gold thread. The price of the class is $200 and will include all materials necessary for learning the technique- a generous quantity of gold thread, around 10 colors of high quality French silk thread, needles, and the ground fabric pre-prepared with the design. While no particular experience is necessary, students who are patient and comfortable working in a small scale will experience the most success with Or Nuè.

The only things students need to bring are an embroidery frame or hoop, tweezers, and small sharp scissors. If you don’t have a good hoop, we can order an 8.5″  Hardwick Manor hoop for an additional $8.50 if you request it. They are some of the best hoops commercially available.

The class will be held Sunday November 3rd  from 1-5pm in Columbus, Ohio and will be taught by Larissa Boiwka, an instructor who has been teaching couture beading and embroidery for over 12 years. She has taught at the Columbus College of Art and Design and Byzantium, a noted jewelry arts store.

We will be taking a limited number of students for this rare opportunity and we encourage you to register as soon as possible in order to ensure your enrollment. Your payment reserves your space in the class. In order to register, please click here.  Any questions may be directed to sales (at ) oldetownebead.com.
